In November 1966, Che Guevara arrived in Bolivia, on a campaign to free the country from its military dictatorship. While his small guerrilla force initially outwitted the Bolivian Army, they were eventually surrounded and their situation became more and more desperate.
In October 1967, he was captured, arrested and unceremoniously executed. In his backpack was this diary, a remarkable record of suffering and bravery, told with honesty and humility. Published after his death, this is the account that helped catapult Che to fame around the world.
